Wirefly!
Wirefly is a website that gathers information from cell phone providers to give consumers deals. It professes to be the #1 seller of Cell Phones and wireless plans and is currently featuring an offer of a free razor phone if you sign up for a new cell phone plan. There are also large rebates and free headsets with some offers. They have all of the major brands and carriers, including Alltel, Amp’d, Cingular (now AT&T), Nextel, Sprint and T-Mobile. They also have Verizon’s new heavily-advertised ‘Chocolate’ phone. Wirefly has received many awards, including Forbes magazine's "Best of the Web" for 2004 and Keynote System's "Best In Overall Customer Experience" in 2005. They are the Expedia and Travelocity of cell phones, giving you a way to easily compare all of the offers cell phone providers have. They even offer free shipping from FedEx, a 100% Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee and free return shipping through out the United States.
That said, accounting to Wikipedia at least four class actions and ten individual actions have been brought against Inphonic (the owner of Wirefly) in six federal district courts, alleging that Inphonic “failed to adequately disclose the terms of its rebates associated with the purchase of wireless telephones and/or wireless service plans, failed to honor valid rebate claims filed by customers, and unreasonably delayed the processing of rebate claims.” These plaintiffs have alleged that various state law claims, including “fraud, negligent misrepresentation, unjust enrichment, conversion, and breach of contract, as well as violations of state consumer protection statutes.” They have also alleged that Inphonic “violated the Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act," also known as the RICO Act.” Innocent until proven guilty though, just make sure you read all of the fine print and make sure you read the rebate instructions carefully! Most people forget about rebates, don’t be stupid.
